Challenge
Consolidate competing product lines into a single manufacturable platform
The client needed to upgrade a mature gas waste abatement system while incorporating features from two recently acquired products with different designs and components. Internal engineering resources were already fully allocated, requiring an outsourced solution. The project demanded improved manufacturability, field serviceability, and a smaller footprint, all on a compressed 10-week schedule.
Innovation
Synthesize technology, packaging, and design for rapid delivery
We collaborated with multiple client stakeholders—including engineering, manufacturing, sales, marketing, and field service—to merge competing requirements. Key innovations included:
- Repackaging the high-temperature reactor chamber for easier manufacturing and service using standard components.
- Integrating industrial design improvements for better user access and touch screen interface.
- Reducing system footprint to allow field replacement of competitive products.
- Rapid prototyping and assembly to meet the Semicon show delivery timeline.
Result
Prototype delivered on schedule with enhanced usability and manufacturability
The first prototype was successfully displayed at the Semicon show. The new platform combined the best features from multiple products, simplified manufacturing, improved serviceability, and established a foundation for faster production ramp-up.
