Next-generation 300 mm wafer bonding system delivered for head-to-head evaluation

Project snapshot
Client:
Leading wafer bonding OEM
Location:
N/A
Sector:
Product type:
Wafer bonding automation
Wafer held in a 300 mm bonding system
Challenge

Integrate a next-generation bonding process into a compact, wet, 300 mm platform

The OEM needed to implement multiple bonding technologies into a small-footprint, wet environment platform. Wafer cleaning, drying, alignment, and joining mechanisms had to be robust, non-particle generating, and fully compatible with the wet processing conditions. Speed and precision were critical to win a high-stakes “head-to-head” customer evaluation.

Innovation

Comprehensive wet-process automation and sub-system integration

We collaborated with the OEM to productize lab-proven processes, developing:

  • Chamber architecture optimized for cleanliness and compact footprint.
  • Alignment, cleaning, joining, and drying mechanisms designed for wet, particle-sensitive processing.
  • Airflow and fluid management strategies to exceed cleanliness requirements.
  • Full software integration and system-level control for coordinated operation.
Result

System successfully wins critical customer evaluation

The fully integrated wafer bonding system delivered to the customer met all process, cleanliness, and operational requirements. The system’s performance enabled the OEM to win the “head-to-head” evaluation, unlocking a significant revenue opportunity.

Case studies

The customer needed to deliver their confocal IR laser scanning technology on a fully automated 300 mm platform. Developing in-house automation would have diverted engineering resources and delayed commercialization….

The OEM needed to transition a lab-demonstrated wafer probe process to a production-ready, fully 300 mm-compliant automation platform. The system required micron-level wafer positioning, exceptional positional…

Next-generation process and device technologies demanded new measurement tools, but fabs require fully automated 300 mm configurations for evaluation. Our client needed a high-vacuum wafer automation platform…
