This post originally appeared on owensdesign.com. Owens Design is now part of AIR.
Alex Ko announcement

Alex Ko will leverage his deep technical and leadership experience with his unique perspective as a former customer to find the best solution for customer automation customers.

We are pleased to have Alex Ko join the Owens Design team as Technical Advisor. With over 25 years of experience in capital equipment design and engineering management, his industry tenure includes serving as Senior Vice President of Global Engineering at Kateeva – an Owens Design customer for many years – and a Member of Technical Staff at Applied Materials.

With a keen eye for developing cutting-edge products that balance quality, cost, and lead time, Alex excels as a team builder, always ensuring high employee and customer satisfaction.

Alex earned his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design and Manufacturing from the University of California, Berkeley.

Role & Responsibilities at Owens Design

As a Technical Advisor at Owens Design, Alex will focus on four areas:

  • Strategic Guidance: enhance communication programs for reaching the right customers at the right time
  • Voice of the Customer (VOC): be our internal champion for incorporating the VOC in everything we do
  • Operational Efficiency: evaluate our processes and find ways to make them more efficient
  • Technical Insights: keep us ahead of the curve by incorporating his expertise in capital equipment, substrate handling, and display technologies

Leveraging Customer Perspective

With extensive industry experience, Alex understands the importance of seeing things from the customer’s point of view. This is a perspective he shares with Bob Fung, President of Owens Design, and Tony Smith, VP of Engineering – both of whom were also once Owens Design customers.

An Invaluable Addition

Alex is not just a technical leader, but a visionary with a knack for making strategic decisions that drive success. He has a proven track record of developing state-of-the-art solutions while optimizing team performance. His strategic insight and customer-focused approach will be an asset for our team and clients alike.
