Challenge
Implement innovative UV processing in a high-volume production environment
A major hard disk manufacturer had developed a lab-scale UV processing technology and needed to scale it to high-volume production. The system had to handle media at high speed, integrate seamlessly with factory automation, and maintain tight process control. The schedule was extremely aggressive, as initial market shipments were already planned and production ramp would follow almost immediately.
Innovation
Stacked, high-throughput UV automation system
We engineered and delivered a complete UV processing tool with a focus on speed, footprint efficiency, and precise control:
- Innovative track design to provide highly repeatable UV exposure.
- “Stacked” architecture to minimize footprint while nearly doubling throughput.
- Full end-to-end responsibility for mechanical, electrical, software, and safety systems.
- Rapid production ramp-up enabling multiple units to be installed within six months.
Result
Fast, reliable production-ready UV processing
The system met all process and throughput targets, integrating seamlessly into the production floor. High-speed handling, precise UV exposure, and tight process control allowed the customer to launch the new media technology on schedule while supporting aggressive volume ramp-up.
