Challenge

Scale lab-proven PV technology to high-throughput production

The client needed to convert a lab-demonstrated wafer PV process into a production-ready machine for deployment in one of the world’s largest PV factories. The system had to achieve high throughput while maintaining high vacuum, precise substrate positioning, and effective thermal management.

Innovation

Custom high-vacuum architecture with precision substrate control

We collaborated with the client to develop a production-ready machine that met demanding PV manufacturing requirements.

Key elements of the solution included:

  • Evaluation and selection of the optimal machine architecture to balance performance, throughput, and cost.
  • Design and fabrication of high-vacuum chambers with integrated electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Precision substrate positioning through compliant interfaces and active control mechanisms.
  • Integration of system control software and completion of full functional testing under vacuum.
Result

Production-ready machine meeting high-volume PV factory requirements

The system achieved the required throughput and performance specifications, enabling rapid deployment into a large-scale PV manufacturing environment.
