Challenge
Increase throughput while maintaining gentle handling and full traceability
The client needed to meet a line throughput of 7,200 PV cells per hour. Handling fragile cells required careful automation, while fully automated cassette exchange interfacing with factory systems was needed. Every cell and cassette had to be tracked individually using RFID and barcodes to maintain yield and quality.

Innovation
Custom automation solution with rapid transfer and full traceability
We partnered with the customer to develop a high-speed, gentle, and fully traceable binning solution.
Key elements of the solution included:
- Designing a delta-style robot system capable of rapid and precise cell transfer between machines.
- Implementing fully automated cassette exchange to integrate with factory automation systems.
- Incorporating RFID and barcode tracking for every cell and cassette to ensure complete traceability.
- Architecting multiple machine interfaces to support high-throughput processing while protecting fragile PV cells.
Result
Met throughput and quality goals with full automation and traceability
The solution achieved the target 7,200 cells per hour while maintaining gentle handling, complete cell tracking, and seamless integration into the factory line.
