Challenge
Comprehensive quality testing automation
The customer required an automated system to measure, inspect, and test plastic bottles for dimensions, liquid capacity, and vertical strength, while reducing manual handling and ensuring consistent quality.
Innovation
Fully integrated multi-module inspection system
We created a single automated system integrating all required inspection processes. This innovative system was a market first, featuring new, advanced technology for wall thickness inspection.
- Bottles are transferred via a conveyor and six-axis robot between inspection modules
- High-resolution vision systems measure external dimensions
- Digital contact probes measure internal diameters
- Non-contact sensors measure bottle thickness at pre-set positions
- Motor-driven slides test vertical strength
- Bottles are weighed empty and filled with water to verify volume capacity
Result
Improved QC efficiency and through-life support
The system processes batches of 20 bottles simultaneously, with the ability to scale for different bottle diameters. AIR delivered a turnkey solution including installation and continues to provide through-life support, covering spares, maintenance, and control upgrades.
