Challenge
Flexible, scalable, and compact end-of-line solution
Pets Choice needed an end-of-line packing system that could increase productivity and cost efficiency while integrating into their existing factory architecture. The system needed to be compact, safe for operators, scalable for future expansion, and capable of capturing production data for continual optimization.
Innovation
Compact, versatile robotic system
AIR designed and implemented a highly automated system using Schneider Electric technology and Delta robots, providing precise, flexible, and efficient handling:
- Integrated PacDrive 3 & Delta Robots to automatically orient and pack high volumes of pet food products
- Developed a centralized control system capable of managing multiple product types across the line
- Achieved an extremely compact footprint, reducing panel size by ~70% thanks to integrated servo motors and drives
- Utilized seven robots connected to a single PacDrive unit, simplifying wiring and centralizing control
- Enabled cloud-based monitoring, condition monitoring, and machine analytics through EcoStruxure architecture
Result
Rapid deployment and long-term efficiency gains
- Single-cable technology reduced assembly and wiring time, allowing rapid installation and commissioning
- Maintenance simplified, delivering a more cost-effective long-term solution
- Scalable architecture provides a foundation for future systems and enhanced production insights
- Increased overall line efficiency, meeting customer productivity and flexibility goals
Customer comment:
“We’re delighted that AIR chose Schneider Electric for upgrading its customers’ existing production line and that the delta robots have already positively impacted efficiencies.” – Mark Yeeles, VP Industrial Automation, Schneider Electric
