Challenge
Handling high volumes with speed and consistency
A producer of baked goods for the retail industry required an automated packaging solution capable of handling a demanding workload at high speed. The system needed to efficiently manage large product volumes while ensuring consistent quality control prior to primary packaging.
Innovation
Integrated sorting, inspection, and pick-and-place packaging
Working closely with the customer, AIR developed a high-speed automation platform capable of managing hundreds of products simultaneously while embedding quality inspection directly into the packaging flow. The system was designed to maintain throughput while ensuring only compliant products progressed to packaging.
- High-speed pick and place robots for product collation and stacking
- Product separation into multiple controlled streams
- Integrated 3D scanning technology for real-time quality inspection
- Automated reject handling based on pre-programmed inspection criteria
- Seamless integration with a third-party flow wrapping machine
Result
Reliable high-throughput packaging at scale
The automated system accepts products from upstream production at 400 parts per minute, separates and inspects each item, and reliably collates compliant products for flow wrapping at 100 parts per minute.
This enabled the customer to achieve consistent primary packaging performance while maintaining quality standards under high production demand.
