Sewtec’s people and skills recognised in The Manufacturer MX Awards

Sewtec’s company culture and employee engagement have been recognised with a shortlisting at The Manufacturer MX Awards.

Our awards success continues with this nomination in the ‘people and skills’ category, which recognises “a company culture that promotes learning, focusing on talent and performance”. This is our fourth high-profile shortlisting in the past month alone.

We are one of only five SMEs shortlisted in this category from hundreds of entrants, in what judges called an “extremely competitive” year of applications.

As further judging continues, members from Sewtec’s senior management team including managing director, Mark Cook, will host a half-day site visit at our facility in Dewsbury this September.

Winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony and gala dinner attended by 800 manufacturing leaders on November 14 in Liverpool, at what is the biggest celebration in the industry’s calendar.

With a combined heritage spanning four decades and the UK’s largest celebration of manufacturing, The Manufacturer MX Awards is the most prestigious programme of its kind.

Commenting on Sewtec’s shortlisting, judges said: “This year, the programme was extremely competitive so to be shortlisted is an achievement worth showing off. The Manufacturer MX Awards are without doubt the toughest and most rigorous in the UK, so it really is an incredible achievement to have been shortlisted.”

Sewtec takes an open and inclusive approach to employee engagement and has initiatives including an open-door policy, regular ‘open floor’ sessions, ‘bright ideas’ scheme, company newsletter and family events.

We are champions of investing in people and have introduced leadership coaching, a new bonus scheme, health and death in service insurance, a health cash plan, employee referral scheme, ‘cycle to work’ scheme, increased pension contributions, employee appraisal framework and flexible working.

Commenting on the shortlisting, Sewtec director of business support, Mark Atkins, said: “This shortlisting is testament to the transformational change taking place at Sewtec. We have introduced new initiatives that have rightly enhanced Sewtec’s reputation as a progressive manufacturer which puts people first.”

This shortlisting closely follows three other high-profile nominations for Sewtec in the past month, including at the European Business Awards, the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards and the Make UK Manufacturing Awards.
