EcoVadis Gold 2022 sustainability rating medal on a green leaf

Sewtec have been awarded a second gold EcoVadis Medal for sustainability, in only our third year of participating in EcoVadis’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) assessment. We scored higher than 67/100 in the assessment, putting us amongst the top 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis across the globe.

Each year, EcoVadis analyse the sustainability performance of companies all around the world. In 2022, 75,000 companies took part in the initiative, including the likes of Johnson & Johnson, Nestle, Scheider Electric, Coca-Cola and many, many more. EcoVadis’ assessment judges aspects of a company such as environment, ethics, sustainable procurement and labour and human rights.

We first took part in this initiative in 2018 and were awarded a silver rating for our sustainability efforts. The next year we took part, we were awarded a gold rating and have maintained gold in 2022 with our highest rating yet.

At Sewtec, we work hard at reaching sustainability goals for both ourselves and our customers with our focus on energy-efficient manufacturing processes and design of environmentally-friendly automation systems. In our industry, we bringing objects and materials into the world everyday through design and manufacturing. Therefore, it is our responsibility that we and our customers are doing this in a way that meets sustainable practices.

Plus, we understand that in today’s eco-conscious society, a huge 91% of companies take sustainability criteria into account in purchasing decisions and 85% of consumers are more likely to buy from a company with a reputation for sustainability than from a neutral company.

We’re also responsible for the continuous creation of highly-skilled jobs. With 120 incredibly talented Sewtec employees across engineering, manufacturing and sales roles, our people truly are at the heart of everything we do and we continuously work with local schools, colleges and universities to encourage more people onto this fruitful career path.

“To reach this high level of recognition from EcoVadis for our sustainability efforts makes us extremely proud,” says our Business Support Director Mark Atkins, “Sustainability forms a large and incredibly important part of what we do for our global customers, so to be able to showcase this success in our own corporate social responsibility means everything to us.”

We understand how important sustainability is for any business, but especially in engineering. If you want to find out more about our corporate social responsibility credentials or how we can help your business become more sustainable through automation, please contact us today.
