Jacob Maan and Tomas Preidys complete apprenticeships at Sewtec

Jacob Maan and Tomas Preidys have successfully completed their apprenticeship courses and have been promoted into new roles at Sewtec.

Jacob Maan has completed an IT apprenticeship, gaining a Level 3 IT Infrastructure Technician qualification. Jacob has now been promoted to First Line IT Support Engineer and will continue his excellent work within the IT department.

Commenting on his achievement, Jacob said “I feel relieved that I have passed my first course and I am now looking forward to seeing what other courses and skills are out there for me to learn! My new job role as First Line IT Support Engineer will require me to become more independent which is a skill I look forward to developing as well as learning more IT skills.”

Tomas Preidys has successfully completed his CNC Machining apprenticeship, gaining a EAL Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering. Tomas was named Apprentice of the Year 2020 and will continue to make a positive impact in his new role as CNC Machinist.

Chris Morton, head of manufacturing, said “I remember interviewing Tom and although Tom has many attributes the main things that stood out was not only his eagerness to learn but his maturity and understanding of where he would learn from. Tom realised that it was the engineers around him that would teach him everything he needed to know to become the machinist that he is. The manufacturing team is very proud of Tom’s achievements and development over the course of his apprenticeship.”

Mark Atkins, business support director for Sewtec said “We are very proud of all of our apprentices here at Sewtec. They bring a huge amount of passion and energy to the team and are a great asset to the company. Tomas and Jacob have demonstrated a sensational amount of dedication and hard work to complete their training, and we look forward to seeing how well they progress throughout their career with us.”
